Yesterday afternoon a group from the school went to the modern art museum, which has a great exhibition (the only one in Latin America) of latinoamericano art. It also has a special exhibition of Maplethrope´s photography. I loved Maplethorpe´s photgraphy, alto the more pornographic ones did not do anything for me. It was obvious he was more intersted in the male body than the female body, but he is a master on ¨lines¨and light. His human forms often formed geometric designs, along with his shadows. Exquisite and very enjoyable! The latinoamerican art was also beautiful, but since I don´t know much about it, it was difficult for me to do anything except say I liked it or didn´t like a particular painting. There were various artists so I was not able to analyze any particular style with reference to a collection of art work by the same artist. After going to the museum, Rachel and I walked around, had a glass of wine, and ate dinner. Much fun. We didn´t get back to the house until around 8:30P...not much studying last night so have to catch up tonight. So far we have 4 people going to the gaucho show and possibly two more on Sat...should be tons of fun. I feel much better now and am ready to see everything. You can´t beat Sudafed and Nyquil. I am so glad I decided to bring those and aspirin with me. They really killed the cold in one night!
Well, off to study now...Luv u all....(Renee - thanks for the notes. I luv them)!
